Sister Sister

Thanks for the webcam chats today Mels. That was the highlight of my day. The rest of it was spent cleaning and packing and getting ready to head back to Cayman. In one week I'll be in a different world again. Hmm...I wonder how long I'll stay. Craziness. The ocean is calling me. Put your ear to a shell - it will call you too. Anyway, back to Mels. Anyone reading this should know about Melsey Pelsey (and everyone not reading this). She is my twin sister. Well, just kidding, not really, but nevermind (who knew Dodgeball could produce such a useable quote)! She is the mother hen of her 2 younger sisters (me and Lisa)...she tends to keep us in check. Our other sister is off galavanting in India (for a great cause) and we hope to see her again! We're spread over 3 different continents so that will need to change SOON. Mel is RAVISHING but what's that about baggy jeans? She also enjoys her haircuts and Daisy the dog as featured in the photo. But not all at the same time. Mel come visit me in Cayman and we'll make some more memories to catch up on the last year and a half - we need to catch up on laughing at things that really just aren't funny! BTW, we have a band. We'll get into that later.

All the gold in California

I found some gold:
You probably don't know this song but its some crazy shiznet - a song we used to listen to on our long Hines Creek road trips (to see Grandma and Grandpa Kipke). Well, that and 'On the Road Again' by Willie Nelson. There are a few versions of 'All the Gold' but I would recommend either the Oak Ridge Boys or the Statler Brothers. I've never been a huge country fan but being deprived of it in Cayman for the past 5 months has spurred me on to those Hines Creek-country-road-roots. So this is kind of a random way to start a blog but hey when am I not random (althogh not nearly as random as Joanne - ha!) and trust me you'll thank me for this song - its gold baby.

Whyte Ave meets Lord of the Flies:
That was some hardcore Oiler appreciation last night on Whyte after the BIG win.
I guess you had to be there to get it - its always quite the show but this was particularily vehement in nature. Total madness. Thanks to Trav, Jon, Ryan and Kent for a good time had by all (and Niche, I'm sorry for the call!). And yes Kent, Jesus is for real. Here's a pic of the bonfire (on the road) that I saw some chick fall into - but man, I wish I had a pic of the randoms on the car dealership sign. I don't know how they got up there - I guess they just climbed the letters one by one. A hands on way to learn the alaphabet - what they don't teach you in school.

And to educate you all, here is the word of the day - it didn't take much cerebration on my part.
Contrary to popular belief, I'm not a dumb blonde. Or at least not any dumb blonde.

cerebration \ser-uh-BRAY-shuhn\, noun:The act or product of thinking; the use of the power of reason; mental activity; thought.
Generally, to the 2 1/2-year-old apple of her parents' eye, who bravely negotiates her ABC's, the recitation must seem, if anything other than pure nonsense, more like a physical task -- like rafting a river or running a steeplechase -- than cerebration.-- Daniel Menaker, "Lletters for Yyoungsters", New York Times, November 9, 1986
Celebration of cerebration is not what the public wants. Indeed, the opposite is probably true. We are suspicious of excessive smartness.-- David R. Slavitt, "You Can Go Holmes Again", New York Times, October 17, 1993

But seriously, I created this blog so that those of you who showed interest can track my Cayman activities and enjoy some pics from paradise- easier than writing emails! But since I won't be back on island for another week (Joey or Shane please pick me up from the airport - hitchiking with suitcases is not cool!) I'll have to bore you with slapdash postings of life in the Grove.
