Crunch Time

Well its a crunch time at school with only two weeks left - it will be strange to have 2 weeks off and to be back in Etown for Christmas. Last Christmas I was in Cayman, but even though being barefoot on the beach at Christams is nice, I think I prefer a white Christmas - and my mom's Cinnamon Christmas Wreath on Christmas morning. Its weird too how all the roomates I was with last year at Christmas are now scattered - BC, Chicago, England, and Ontario (that's me dare I say) - so much change in just one year. We spent last Christmas at the Westin on Seven Mile Beach with an all-you-can-eat deluxe buffet and the reason everyone else went, the all-you-can-drink-never-ending champagne. It was a whopping CI70 for the works. Then we went to a pool party and most got charged up and we listened to House music which Brits apparently love much more than I do! Let's just say it was a much different Christmas! Then on boxing day we moved out of the Compass Point condo and into our infamous green house-good times lol.
But all this schoolwork is seriously making me miss this:

Man, I need a vacation!

"Take me to the Icon"

That's the new phrase of the month. Jump into a cab and try it. We would, but that cab is usually sitting in front of our Icon condo...that would just cause too much confusion. Whenever I walk past the party room now its being used, I think we'll totally host a few and make a few bills.

I'm sure I blogged since the Incubator excursion but I guess I just neglected. My bad.

Well in that case here's the latest beat on the street.

My furniture arrived - oh yes, its true! And a tv I might add. I haven't had a tv in a year pretty much, so this is big news. However I can't yet afford cable and only have about 5 dvds so lets just say I know these movies now quite intimately - lol. Its a tough one cause its such a sweet georgia brown movie, but I'd have to say that my favorite scene in The Aviator is when Howard Hughes is golfing with Box Office Poison (aka Hepburn) of which also births my favorite quote from the movie "If you're deaf you must own up to it...well I sweat and you're deaf, aren't we a fine pair of misfits". But other great quotes are 'Show me the blueprints, show me the blueprints, show me the blueprints' and 'the way of the future, the way of the future, the way of the future, the way of the future'. I guess if you haven't seen the show it won't make much sense but Mel and Lisa sure know what I'm talking about - can't forget coming out of the Chichester theatre after seeing that one! Do you remember Meet Joe Black, well if not I could quote it for you, I've even got the Brad Pitt speakin Jamaican scene down so 'Everyting gonna be I -ry'. How about The Neverending Story...well, at my house it really doesn't end. And did you know they made a ghetto Wizard of Oz? Or to be more technical 'The Wiz'. Its true, I have the black version. And I mean that in the very best way, if you want you can call me white girl so let's not worry about being politically correct. The colour of the skin don't make a difference but you know what does - the colour of Dorothy's slippers. I'm sorry, but they shouldn't have messed with that. They're red not silver, I mean come on! Randy and Dan agreed with me on that one too. When do I have all this time to watch movies you ask? Let's just say that while I'm doing pattern drafting homework I could watch the 3 hour Aviator movie three times over. And that's one class. Luckily Ash and I take turns at each other's place so I also get my fair share of her dvds, in particular her favorit, 'The Elf'.

I've also done a couple more field trips since last blog. Well, one was technically an industry night, and was still held at the school. It was for Fashion Merchandising students but Ashley and I crashed it just because WE LOVE SCHOOL so much. Love it. Just love it. lol. The industry panel consisted of the GM for Lulu Lemon, the Holt Renfrew Visual Manager, some event coordinator chick who knows a lot of famous people, the editor for Fashion Magazine, a Toronto boutique owner, and some other dude. It was pretty interesting though. Seeing where people start off and where they end up. And we got free goodie bags.
The other field trip was to the Ontario Art Gallery, but it was so friggen boring that we had to skip out early. Oh come on, I do appreciate art, but hate to say it, the art there is no Louvre and I can't stand in front of a painting for 10 min talking about the different reds and greens. Its like watching paint dry. And its already dry so what's the point?!?!

As for school, mid-terms are over and finals have started. Finals and Final Projects. Finals, Final Projects and regular homework. Miss Humphrey back in the wilds of Alberta just informed me that her classes ended last week. Why the bamba seed do mine not end until the 22nd?!?! There should be a law against that. Fo sure. But in case you were wondering, or even if you weren't I did decide to come home for Christmas afterall. I can finally sing 'I'll be home for Christmas' with utmost sincerity. Am I ashamed to admit I'll miss Toronto for those couple of weeks? This place is definately growing on me, especially now that I have furniture. Speaking of furniture, I can't believe I got so distracted that I went from that to movies in the previous paragraph. So back to furniture...it all came after an uneeded gong show of events and my two handy men Randy and Dan, kindly came over day after day for a couple of weeks relentlessly building a fortress while I cooked them chicken cabobs, baked them cookies and croissants, fed them chips and salsa, went through two boxes of oranges (if you like your oranges don't let them see them), more chips, made them welch's grape juice (the flavour that gets in your cheeks), and even tea. Thank goodness that is over cause I sure ran out of food. I kinda miss the whole routine though!

What else can I tell you? Oh, Ash works at Guess and gets a whopping 50% off. I got new lightbulbs. Oh, and last week I had to put the flip flops away. Its true, it finally got a little too cold. But after being out today, I could of put them on again. In the elevator last week there was this older couple and the lady looked at my flip flops and said 'those are funny looking boots' in the most serious tone. Wait for it, it gets better. Then she's like 'I've heard about people like you'. I didn't know I was a part of some flip flop sub-culture but apparently I am. And then the man was like 'what show are you in'? To that I say 'pardon'? I said ' why are, you in any shows', 'no, we just like the theatre' was his reply. I guess with all the wannabee actors living in my building they too thought I was a part of that ensemble. That was a weird elevator ride, and it was all packed into like 10 sec. cause that's how fast my elevator is. Gotta love it.

So I was gonna pull another Jessica Simpson with my hair again but APPARENTLY I've changed my hair colour more than my mind so they wouldn't let me for the sake of my hair. But I still got a cut. She wanted to give me Hilton bangs but the word 'bangs' stood out more than 'Paris' and I was having flashback of Jr. High. I couldn't let that happen again. But after she explained they'd be long and thick, instead of SHORT, I was ok with the idea. But we opted for something more in between Hilton and Richie.

Well its a fun day of sew sew sew tomorrow so I'd better skidaddle but here is a short description of the pics (not in order cause as you can see, my pictures often get blogged all wonky): the fountain in our condo lobby, what looks like Ash peeing on the Christmas tree in Icon 1, the playas Ash and Shavone in drafting class, me and my new bangs, me using my trustee clear plastic ruler (I can't even describe how amazing it is) and faithful cutting mat (on my new table I might add!), me holding my designer skirt (made out of muslin of course!), and I think that's about it.

Latah playas!
